Bio-Plas Filter Medias are suitable for use in mechanical and biological filtration systems. All types of Bio-Plas filter media provide large surface areas for good bacteria to colonise and this increases the efficiency of a box, pressure or multi-bay pond filter. Bio-Plas Medias provide the maximum active surface area for the bacteria to colonise, much more than other types of static media. It is this process which removes harmful ammonia and nitrite from the water.
Within the media is a protected surface which enables colonies of bacteria to naturally follow their lifecycle, of maturing, dying and then fuelling the latter stages of the nitrification cycle. All Bio-Plas filtration media can be used in either a. Mechanical or biological Filtration system; Bacteria will colonies while collecting debris and plant material from the pond with no compromise water flow. The Filter Webb is one of the best products for polishing the water and for the size of the Filter Webb the surface area it offers to catch micro-particles is amazing. The clips come in two halves that simply push/snap together, please note once the clips have been secured to each other they are not designed to come apart and you risk breaking them. The strainer will stop large debris from going into the actual filter.The strainer has been designed to be attached to any 110mm/4 fitting; the strainer cage is manufactured with a joining spigot of 110mm OD. All 110mm/4 fittings such as bends and tees will mount directly onto the strainer itself (if you require any further information on sizing please look at our pipe identification chart supplied). The strainer can also prevent fish from disappearing through the pipework.
